We Grew Up Like This

Videos of last month’s concert have made their way online.  It was a lovely reunion of a night, full of great songs sung and played by great friends and fellow Clevelanders.  There really is no place like home (and I’m so lucky that so much of my home is still with me here in NYC!)

Ms. Amy Linden, ladies and gentlemen.  (Mrs. Peters, if you’re nasty.)  Singing “Crooked River” from Across the River.  As my constant collaborator/muse, she’s sung just about everything I’ve ever written.  This was the first time I got to hear her sing this one, and she didn’t disappoint!  (Obviously.)

Amy was joined at the start of the concert by Lauren Geber and Hannah Delmonte for a powerhouse rendition of “Nobody Knows” from Pregnancy Pact.

Click through all of the videos to see my frequent collaborators, former students, and teenage idols doing our hometown proud!

Square graphic 2 FINAL 5.19.15Next Sunday!  Come on down to 54 Below and take a trip back to my theatrical roots in Cleveland…

The concert features all those lovely performers in the photo (some old friends, old collaborators, and old campers!) with songs by me and a few of my fellow Cleveland writers (Vadim Feichtner, Dan Marshall, and Scott Frankel.)  Thanks to the wonderful Amy Linden for putting it all together.

Grab some tickets before they’re gone.  Let’s do Cleveland proud!

Roberta-Bot

It was so great to hear the new short musical tonight that Julia and I wrote for New York City Children’s Theater!  Roberta-Bot tells the story of a perfectionist girl who becomes convinced she must be a robot when she encounters her best friend’s robo-sitter.  (Why else would she be so perfect?)

We were one of five teams to write short musicals around the topic of children and technology, and we were delighted to see the work by the four other talented teams: Charlie Sohne & Tim Rosser, Kevin Hammonds & Kristin Blair, John Herin & Alden Terry, and Ty Defoe & Tidtaya Sinutoke.  This first read was directed by Dev Bondarin, with music direction by Micah Young.  Roberta-Bot featured Diana Fox, Hector Ortiz, and Vanessa Spica.

Thanks to Barbara Zinn Krieger and Emma Halpern at NYCCT for the opportunity!
