REB+VoDKa+ME+STRINGS

The final piece of Julia’s Discovery Grant from OPERA America for REB+VoDKa+ME was the funding to record both the newest material written for the show and to record Julia’s beautiful new string orchestrations. I’m so excited to share this updated demo, especially on the fifth anniversary of the crazy day that inspired our show.

Thanks to engineer Chris Gilroy, violinist Saki Uetsuhara, cellist Brian Sanders and the phenomenal singers we’ve worked with over the past 3 years: Delaney Amatrudo, Matthew Berzon, Ally Bonino, Jack Brinsmaid, Jackie Colquitt, Jessica Fisher, Holly Gould, Hanako Greensmith, Sam Heldt, Angelina Kelly, Kelsey Lake, Adam Lawrence, Lily Lester, Allison Lian, Evan Maltby, Lauren Marcus, Elexis Morton, Matthew Oster, Sam Paley, Angela Pardini-Gomez, Jeanna Phillips, Allison Posner, Katie Rodgers, Daniel Saulle, Libby Servais, Rich Silverstein, and Emily Walton.

REB+VoDKa+ME reading

Come on down/up/over to the National Opera Center on Monday, June 10 at 3pm to hear the newest draft of REB+VoDKa+ME!

We’re so thrilled and grateful to be working with actors Renée Albulario, Delaney Amatrudo, Matthew Berzon, Mackenzie Dade, Manoel Felciano, Sam Heldt, MinJi Kim, Lily Lester, David Merino, Elexis Morton, Jeanna Phillips, and Tatiana Wechsler – we had our first rehearsal tonight and they are amazingly hardworking and talented and game to take on this sometimes crazy material!

If you’re interested in attending the reading, send us an email at gordon.julia.musicals@gmail.com.

Back to The Civilians!

Julia and I are so happy to be bringing REB+VoDKa+ME back to our roots with The Civilians for a reading this June, with support from the Discovery Grant from OPERA America, generously sponsored by the Virginia B Toulmin Foundation.

The show was first written in The Civilians’ R&D Group in 2015-2016 and first seen in the 2016 FINDINGS Series. We are back (with a non-threatening vengeance) this time around with director Annie Tippe (herself an R&D Group alum) and music director Rich Silverstein.

The reading will take place on Monday, June 10 at 3pm at OPERA America’s National Opera Center at 330 7th Avenue, 7th Floor.

Casting and reservation information soon to come!

REB+VoDKa+ME at the Morgan Library

We were lucky enough to present selections from REB+VoDKa+ME at the Morgan Library today in American Lyric Theater‘s ALT Alumni: Composers and Librettists in Concert. Alongside selections from new works by Christopher Cerrone & Stephanie Fleischmann, Theo Popov & E.M. Lewis, and Kamala Sankaram & Jerre Dye.

Thanks to ALT Producing Artistic Director Lawrence Edelson for including our work in the concert. And thanks to music director Gloria Kim, violinist Clara Kim, cellist Joann Whang, and the fabulous singers Glenn Seven Allen, Quinn Bernegger, Ta’Nika Gibson, Edith Grossman, Heather Jones, and Sophia Perez (pictured above) for allowing us to hear these songs in such a wonderfully new way!
