It was so great to hear the new short musical tonight that Julia and I wrote for New York City Children’s Theater! Roberta-Bot tells the story of a perfectionist girl who becomes convinced she must be a robot when she encounters her best friend’s robo-sitter. (Why else would she be so perfect?)
We were one of five teams to write short musicals around the topic of children and technology, and we were delighted to see the work by the four other talented teams: Charlie Sohne & Tim Rosser, Kevin Hammonds & Kristin Blair, John Herin & Alden Terry, and Ty Defoe & Tidtaya Sinutoke. This first read was directed by Dev Bondarin, with music direction by Micah Young. Roberta-Bot featured Diana Fox, Hector Ortiz, and Vanessa Spica.
Thanks to Barbara Zinn Krieger and Emma Halpern at NYCCT for the opportunity!
